SuperKorean privacy and data

SuperKorean is a Korean-learning service by Sigalabs. This page explains the data used by the app.

Your account and learning history

We store your email, sign-in identifiers, language preference, lesson progress, conversation transcripts, and subscription status to provide the service. Passwords are stored as hashes. Google sign-in uses your Google identity token instead of a SuperKorean password.

Voice and AI

Microphone access is optional and is requested when you practice speaking. Recorded audio is sent to our API for transcription and pronunciation evaluation. Temporary recordings are removed from the app after processing; the app can retain the latest recording in memory for replay. Speech processing uses ElevenLabs; synthesized examples use ElevenLabs or Google Cloud. AI conversations use models accessed through OpenRouter. Text or audio necessary for these features is shared with the relevant provider. Avoid including sensitive personal information in practice conversations.

Purchases

Apple or Google processes native store payments. RevenueCat manages receipt verification and subscription status using your internal SuperKorean account ID. SuperKorean does not receive your payment card details.

Device storage and diagnostics

The app stores sign-in tokens in secure device storage, preferences on your device, and caches example audio. Server backups and diagnostic logs support recovery and troubleshooting.

Deletion and choices

You can change microphone permission in your device settings and delete your account from the app settings. Account deletion removes the active account and its associated learning records. Recovery backups and operational logs follow their retention schedules. Deleting an account does not cancel a subscription; manage it separately through Apple or Google.

Website video

The website uses locally hosted preview images. The embedded SuperErato video connects to YouTube only after you press play, using YouTube's privacy-enhanced player. YouTube then receives the connection and playback information needed to provide the video. Your website language choice is stored locally in your browser.
